About Judge Andre Bergeron

Judge Bergeron has been an attorney for nearly fourteen years, practicing in the Jefferson County trial court system in many different roles. He was a staff attorney for the circuit court, a trial attorney in a civil defense firm, a Legal Aid attorney, and spent almost a decade as a criminal prosecutor. Andre took the bench as a District Court Judge in 2017 and has served with much acclaim and support from peers in the legal community and on the bench for the experience and thoughtfulness that he brings to each case.

Andre draws inspiration from his wife and two daughters, and his dog Scout. He and his family are active members at Holy Trinity Church and in the Louisville community where they support local organizations such as YMCA SafePlace Services, St. John’s Center for Homeless Men, the Oldham Parks Conservancy, and the Center for Women and Families. Andre also has two brothers, Pierre and Louis, who have gained notoriety in their fields, respectively, as a nationally acclaimed appellate attorney in Cincinnati and as a Commander in the US Navy, stationed at the Pentagon.

District Court

Jefferson County District Court takes place at the Hall of Justice in downtown Louisville.

At times it is the single busiest building in the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky. Because of the wide array of matters addressed in District Court, from civil and small claims litigation, to evictions, Mental Inquest Warrants, probate matters, Juvenile Court and ten separate Criminal dockets, a District Court Judge must have the experience and knowledge to navigate such a broad range of topics, as well as the temperament to manage the overwhelming volume.
